I heard about what happened with the crazy kid and the batman costume. Thats sad. But this week was an interesting one at least. I got a new companion. His name is Elder Silva. He´s from Brazil. He doesn't really speak Spanish or English. So he doesnt really speak much. It's kinda weird... Sometimes it kinda stinks, cuz I can't understand what he wants to say and neither can the investigator, so I end up teaching the whole lesson. It also stinks cuz I kinda like to talk to my companions. Its a good way to pass the time and not feel lonely, but that just doesn't happen much. Anyways, so we had to go to Capital or Downtown Buenos Aires on friday. That was fun. I decided that Buenos Aires is super awesome and interesting! Unfortunately Buenos Aires doesn´t really pertain to my mission... But it was nice to take a one day vacation, and I assume that I am one of very few americans that have been to the Brazilian Embassy in Argentina... just a hunch... so yeah it was cool. We got to see a few things on the way too. I got pics
Anyways, we also had ward council and I had to stand up and be extremely bold. It was kinda weird, actually not really, everyone liked it. But we showed them a little video about working with members, and just gave my testimony and pleaded for their help and support. The Bishop at least got fired up. He is ready to help where he can, but he doesn't really know how. Its kinda weird how we just kinda got put in charge. It shouldnt really be like that but for now, we`ll deal with it. IDK if any of that made sense but yeah.
We had a good lesson with Lucas, he has a bunch of questions, but he is reading the BOM chapter by chapter and writing down what he learns and his questions. He said that when he was reading the 4th chapter of 1st Nephi he had a warm feeling come over him that he couldnt explain at all. So then we shared the scripture about the burning in the bosom,( i think its DyC 8 haha but I honestly cant remember right now, but i did at the time :D ) But when he read that he got super excited like "thats what happened to me!"
So yeah IDK if I told you already but he´s 20 years old with a 1 year old boy that has epilepsy. He couldnt come to church because he had an attack or smething. So we are going to go see whats up today or tomorrow.
Sometimes I feel like we don't really realize the importance and the role that the spirit has in our lives. Because I´ve had it with me since I was 8 years old, I haven't seen the drastic change in my life when I do feel it. Lucas can definitely see and feel the change. He can´t explain it and neither can I, but it is very real. Kinda like what Nicole was saying, they are just happier and have a different countenance. Lucas is now trying to keep the things in the new for strength of youth and is also seeing blessings there. He has lots of cool experiences lately and is seeing the hand of the Lord in his life.
Anyways, I´m hoping and praying for things to go a little better wth my comp, like we get along and stuff, but we just dont talk... it makes it a little harder to not have a good friend by your side all day everyday. But i´m sure we´ll get to that point soon. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Keep to the faith.
I love you all
Elder Skousen
