Hi everyone! what a crazy week! so first off, Monday and Tuesday I
spent in the ghettos of Moreno, Its a really poor area, but lots of
people that are willing to listen. but then Wednesday I got my new
comp, Elder Chira from Peru. He was in my old zone in Merlo, we did
divisions once. anyways, he is a really hard worker and we are getting
along great. We worked our butts off to get our goals for the week
because we started wednesday night. then Sunday morning was stake
conference, which was really good. there was lots of people there and
we had 2 investigators come. The mission president was there too and he
spoke on the importance of the members in the missionary work. Members
are really the only way to go, its soooo much better than walking in
the street clapping houses and hoping people will give you 2 seconds to
say something before they slam the door... They also talked a lot about
the families and the importance of the parents setting good examples. I
am sooo thankful for a good family and good parents. I´ve always been
surrounded by good examples. Another thing that came to me was the
importance of family prayer. Its something soooo simple, yet sooo
effective in bringing the family together, especially if its done
willingly! So Jake and Siera, make sure you make mom and dad have
family prayer with you every night. then say your personal prayers. I
dont know if you guys knew this, but you pray a lot on the mission, you
pray when you wake up, when you eat breakfast, when you start your
study, when you start comp study, when you leave the pench, every lesson
you teach you try to start and end with a prayer, then you pray at
lunch and when you start to plan and when you finish planning and when
you go to bed... I didn't count but we pray a lot. Why do we pray a lot?
so we can talk with our father in heaven. we need his help and he
wants to help we just have to ask for it. I dont think i ever prayed as
sincerely as I have on my mission. Pray as if heavenly father is
listening and is aware of your every need and care, because he is.
thank him for all the blessings you have because they are many. ask him
for help, and he will answer. he loves his children so much!
Another thing they talked about in the stake conference was how
lots of people say that "Yo soy asi, y no puedo cambiar" or This is just
how I am, I can´t really change. I have seen soo many people say
that. Its just sooo not true, no matter what we can always change.
whether its something small or big, we have our agency and the ability
to change, we can pray for strength, comfort, and just for help when we
need to change. I have changed a lot on my mission, I still have sooo
much I need to work on. I am working on developing more the attributes
of Christ. They are in Preach my Gospel if anyone wants to look them
up, study up on those, and try working on one this week. you´ll see it
make a difference.
Anyways, the weather was also really nice this week. except today
its super hot again... oh well... but anyways, it was super awesome to
be able to talk to you guys for a sec on saturday! Its so awesome what Nicole is doing! I hope everyone sees what a great example she is. I
respect sister missionaries, because you know that they are out here for
the right reasons, because they want to serve the Lord. Anyways, thats
all the time for this week, wish me luck this week, we are gonna be
working real hard and start seeing some real success.
The church is true, figure it out!
