It's a boy!

September 3, 2012

Hey Everyone,
so we had a great week this week!  to start off, I got my new companion, Elder Coronado.  He is brand new in the mission and is really cool.  He´s from Concepción, Chile and is only 18.  He has a strong testimony and I think we are going to work really well together.  We are definitely going to be seeing some miracles happening.
This week we have been working lots with Agueda, who is a sweet little grandma that loves us like her children.  She came to the temple with us that one time and is preparing to be baptized the 15th.   Also Stella and Stella have accepted another baptismal date for the 22nd.  we´ll be working real hard with them to help them feel ready.
I´ve learned a lot from these last few weeks.  And to answer mom´s question, i´d say the biggest lesson i´ve learned is that we need to have the spirit if we want to accomplish anything.  And that we need to love everyone!  Love them that hate us, pray for them that use us, etc.  the more we internalize these principles and apply them in our lives, our faith and testimonies grow.  the thing that i´ve been challenging all of our investigators to do is to have the faith sufficient to just trust in God enough that he´ll take care of us no matter what.  and that he Always completes with his promises.
Also yesterday, Lucas gave his testimony and so did Stella.  it was a little strange, but pretty great!
2. I got the package this week!  it was a nice surprise of things and pictures.  so thank you very much for that!  unfortunately you forgot to send another ipod... haha
3.in my studies, i´ve been studying a lot about the great apostasy and the need for a restoration.  because if they dont understand that there was a falling away, they wont realize the necesity of a restoration.  We do not bible bash, but when we do, we win...
I´ve also been studying more on the docterine of Christ.  these are the most basic things, and the most important.  its a continuous cycle of faith, repentence, baptism, and recieving the holy ghost, and enduring to the end.  obviously we dont get baptized and confirmed every week but we renew our covenants and through our faith we can repent again and recieve the remission of our sins.  and then we have the promise of the holy ghost.
I feel like i cant explain it well in engrish, but Christ´s docterine is so pure and perfect.
4.  its gotten warmer here, we have days of hot and sometimes a cold day now and then, but right now, no comlaints.  i think i like winter more than summer though...
5. the only thing that i want / kinda need is an ipod :) and if you are going to send a package, some missionary mall socks would be nice.  but not the dress ones, the ones for missionary work.  (my shoes are still hanging in there for now, but i dont see them living for another year...)
This friday we have the awesome oppurtunity to go and have a conference with the whole mission and 3 apostles that have come for the dedication of the temple which is going to be on sunday.  we are also going to the temple celebration thing on saturday.  so this weekend we basically arent going to be able to work, that is going to make things a little more difficult to compete our goals. I´m super excited for that.
This week we also comemorate the one year mark of Josh leaving his beloved family and friends to serve the Lord.  It really is crazy how much has happened in just one year, but it has gone by way too fast.  i´ve got no time to loose.  Not that i´m counting down the days or anything but see you in 369 days.  haha jk I seriously love this mission so much.  I have never done anything that helps others soo much, or that brings so much satisfaction.  I can´t imagine being anywhere else.  I am so thankful for this privilege to serve my God, and participate in His work and His glory.  I love Him and I love all of you soo much!  I hope you all have a wonderful week and remember to read and pray as a family.  There is much power in prayer.  Count your blessings.  I feel so blessed and hope to be able to live worthy of all these blessings that i´ve recieved and that I can continue forever worthy of my friends, family, and God.

With all my love!

Elder Josh Skousen
